About the Author
Peter Morgan (born Peter Paul Gangelin, hence the pen name)
is a retired physician, neurologist, epidemiologist and editor. In 1970 he
left his academic practice of neurology to come to Canada to earn a
master's level degree in epidemiology and public health. After eight years at
the University of Toronto, he joined the staff of the Canadian Medical
Association Journal and became its scientific editor. There, he edged into
fiction by turning his editorials on medical writing and scientific method
into a book, The Insider's Guide for Medical Authors and Editors, which
was enlivened by dialogues between clinicians and editors. The Words of
the Papermaker is his first full-length novel. Peter and his wife Wynne
live in Lanark, Ontario.
